MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION SHOW IN MIAMI + Potpourri

Adam Lambert talks ‘Glee,’ new music project, Freddie Mercury

Adam Lambert has a whole lot shaking with his career these days.
But first up: the 31-year-old American Idol standout is taking some care of business close to his heart. The Grammy nominee will perform at the 19th Annual InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish ball.
In its 18-year history, the event has raised more than $12.3 million, enough to grant wishes for 2,620 children with life-threatening medical conditions.
“I’ve been aware of Make-A-Wish for a long time and have granted a few wishes myself,” said Lambert by phone from Los Angeles. “I love the organization, it’s so hopeful. So I jumped at the chance.

Adam surprised Noelle!

Not that it’s a hardship visiting Miami.
“I love, love it there,” he says. “First of all, the atmosphere, the vibe, the beautiful scenery. And the humidity. I don’t know — it keeps me moisturized! I always feel really rejuvenated when I’m there.
Also rejuvenating Lambert is a guest spot on Glee, set to air Thursday. He plays an aspiring singer and says the cast welcomed him “with open arms.”
“They all know each other so well and the show so well that it’s like a family,” he explains. “They are all really talented, and I’ve gone through a lot of on-the-spot learning about being in front of the camera.
Dreams do come true, even for Idol runner-ups. Lambert just collaborated on a song, called Lay Me Down with EDM hot stuff Swedish DJ Avicii.

And he’s performed with Queen, most recently at the iHeartRadio festival in LasVegas. Though he realizes the great Freddie Mercury can never be replaced.
“Freddie’s voice was like one in a million. He had so much power and range,” Lambert says of his own idol. “He made you feel what he was singing and that can never be matched. He’s inspired me a lot.”

Musical Entertainer - Adam Lambert
When Adam Lambert appeared on the eighth season of "American Idol," people couldn't stop talking about the shape-shifting, 6'1" singer with the glam-rock sartorial flair, razor-sharp sense of humor, and jaw-dropping, powerhouse voice. In 2009, Lambert released his debut album, For Your Entertainment, scored the smash single "Whataya Want From Me," and set out on his 2010 Glam Nation World Tour, taking his electrifying show to thousands of fans across the globe who screamed his name and happily sang along with every word of his genre-bending electro-pop-rock songs.

In May 2012, Adam Lambert released the critically acclaimed Trespassing, which debuted at number one in both America and Canada. Over that summer, Lambert performed a series of shows with Queen across Europe. As well as dates in Russia, Ukraine and Poland, they performed three sold-out gigs at London's Hammersmith Apollo. As a solo artist, Adam embarked upon his own international tour throughout 2013.

His television appearances included a guest role in ABC's hit teen drama "Pretty Little Liars" and in December 2012, he hosted and performed on VH1's Divas concert. Adam has joined the cast of hit US TV series "Glee," and will make his debut on November 7.

In September, Adam performed with Queen at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas to rave reviews, including Queen themselves. "He's extraordinary," Brian May gushed. "It speaks for itself, his voice. That's one voice in a billion. Adam can do things which really I have never heard anyone else ever do in my life."

Adam is currently writing and recording for his third album, which will be released in 2014.

Noelle Dadon, 13, from Fort Lee, N.J., sang Pink's "Glitter in the Air" and stunned the judges. The middle school student who adores Adam Lambert has suffered from juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, glaucoma, uveitis and Tourette syndrome. None of that seemed to affect her voice.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, the sold-out 19th Annual InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball will take place with a Vaudeville era theme featuring old-world magic and illusions. Headlining the splashy event is Grammy-nominated recording artist Adam Lambert, whose electro-pop style will add to the magical quality of the evening.
After an excellent turn last year, Gala Chairman Shareef Malnik’s girlfriend and actress Gabrielle Anwar will return as the ball’s celebrity auctioneer to lead the bidding war for lavish auction items. Look for an all-inclusive trip to the Vatulele Resort in Figi, a CORUM “Golden Bridge” sapphire crystal watch, a trip to St.Tropez with lodging at the Domaine Bertaud Belieu, a 2014 Maserati Ghibli, and more than 125 other premium packages.

Home is whichever hotel I'm in. #Miami

"Case in point: Our hotel has partnered with Make-A-Wish Southern Florida to present the InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball for nearly two decades.
This partnership with Make-A-Wish Southern Florida is more than a basic sponsorship. Our hotel has donated the in-kind value of the event’s food, beverage, parking, accommodation and venue expenses, in addition to more than 8,000 management hours committed to planning the ball over 19 years.
These contributions eliminate a large portion of the overhead costs that come with a traditional gala and enable Make-A-Wish Southern Florida to recoup the maximum amount of charitable dollars earned, essentially leveraging our contribution to raise more dollars.
Over the past 19 years, and with the continued support of Strategic Hotels & Resorts for the past eight years, our hotel has contributed more than $4 million through in-kind donations to Make-A-Wish Southern Florida. These donations have enabled the organization to raise more than $12.3 million through our event dating back to 1995, resulting in more than 2,600 wishes being granted to children with life-threatening medical conditions in our community."
